Tourism Selangor Signs MoU With PKNS Real Estate

Tourism Selangor today, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PKNS Real Estate (PREC) in a joint venture project of developing and constructing the “SACC Walk Retail Container”. The signed memorandum saw another strategic step in further strengthening synergy and dynamic cooperation to revitalize Malaysia’s retail and tourism sectors. The signing ceremony that took place at Black Box, SACC Mall and via online was officiated by Azrul Shah Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, and Sr Fakru Radzi Ab Ghani, Chief Executive Officer of PREC.

In addition to providing a site for the retailers who wish to rent or own these containers, the implementation plan also supports full installation work, facilitate technical requirements, licensing and other related matters. Financial support, as well as content development of the SACC Walk Retail Containers and its activities, will also be provided to prospective tenants or buyers. The process and installation work of 10 retail containers are expected to be completed by the month of Ramadan, 2022.

Together in support to the effort, Tourism Selangor will respond by channelling future leads and parties who are interested in the purchase or rental of the said containers to PREC. Besides, large scale of promotional events or activities will be executed to the general public for greater awareness about these new attractions.

Azrul Shah Mohamad in a statement shared, “This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks another milestone to Tourism Selangor in further penetrating tourism and incorporating retail as one of the vital elements of the industry. Tourism Selangor certainly acknowledges the vast potential of retail, especially with new out-of-the-box and fresh ideas which certainly appeal to the masses. This is in-line with Tourism Selangor’s vision to welcome domestic travellers to “Pusing Selangor Dulu”; including to SACC Walk to experience for themselves this new innovation to retail and shopping”.

Fakru Radzi, in his speech, said “We are pleased to team up with Tourism Selangor. Together, we will develop the “SACC Walk Retail Container” located at SACC Walk, Dataran Barat of SACC Mall. We know of the fact that the phenomenon of used containers being commercialized for the purpose of “homestay”, office space, eatery places, and retail is not new. But we believe that the collaboration with Tourism Selangor in having these used containers at a strategic site such as SACC Walk can be an additional attraction to the visitors. Moreover, with its various products and services that will be offered, we believe that it has its competitive advantage that could win people’s hearts.”

As one of the proactive initiatives to reset tourism and revitalize its domestic sector, especially in Selangor, the Selangor State Government through Tourism Selangor had launched the “Pusing Selangor Dulu” Campaign in December 2020, which also introduced a local celebrity; Che Puan Juliana Evans as Campaign’s Ambassador. “Pusing Selangor Dulu” Campaign is majorly-navigated on the digital platform, as well as across Tourism Selangor’s social media sites; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok application and YouTube channel.

The #PusingSelangorDulu hashtag has since garnered a staggering 22 million reach, on social media. At the same time, the target of “Pusing Selangor Dulu” Campaign will be expanded in achieving the objective of making the SACC Walk as a new tourism nucleus area for the State of Selangor.
