Local TVET Graduates Get Support From Top Glove

Local Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students and graduates from 84 vocational colleges under the Ministry of Education will have access to internships, gainful employment, and scholarship opportunities with Top Glove, based on a structured internship and recruitment process.

This collaboration is in line with Top Glove’s ambition of increasing Malaysia’s knowledge-based workforce by 2025. The glovemaker today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education.

Both the company and the ministry are in support of the development of TVET in the country.

This collaboration is in line with Top Glove’s ambition of increasing Malaysia’s knowledge-based workforce by 2025; considered to support the Company’s increased use of automation, digitalisation, robotics, and artificial intelligence across its operations as it expands to meet increased demand for its high-quality gloves and other personal protective equipment.

Top Glove is the world’s largest manufacturer of gloves.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at Top Glove Tower, Shah Alam marking the beginning of five-year cooperation between the Company and MOE; aimed at advancing TVET in Malaysia, increasing the nation’s employment rate, and promoting the development of a knowledge-based economy.

Dato Dr Mah Hang Soon, Deputy Minister I of the Ministry of Education says, “The government is expecting to pick the amount of high competitive skills.

“Usually we only give three years of the partnership but with Top Glove, we give five, to anticipate enhancement of the TVET industry. I am honoured to witness this memorandum with the vision it will develop job training, job knowledge, and practices for future generations.”

Top Glove strides towards boosting the knowledge workforce through collaborations such as with MOE and with public and private TVET institutions.

Top Glove Managing Director Dato Lee Kim Meow says, “Top Glove will continue to provide gainful employment and lifelong education and training to bright, young Malaysians while endeavouring to advance a knowledge economy which is key to supporting the Government’s aim of achieving a high-income nation,” added Dato’ Lee.

In FY2021, Top Glove had hired 2,460 TVET graduates consisting of 340 staff, 800 interns, and 1,320 local workers. The Company is looking towards employing 2000 TVET graduates for FY2022.

Also present at the event were Zanariah Ahmad, Director of MOE Division; Norhayati Ab Wahab, Deputy Director of MOE TVET Division; Kong Won Wah, Private Secretary to YB Deputy Minister; and Suraimi Rithwan, Head of Assistant Director MOE TVET Division.
