China Remains As Largest Investor In Selangor

China remains as one of the major investors in Selangor with over RM6 billion of investments approved in the manufacturing sector since 2015.

Menteri Besar Selangor, Dato Seri Amirudin Shari added that as Malaysia's largest trading partner, the republic's involvement was important for the state's foreign direct investment (FDI).

“A large number of businesses and manufacturers are based in Selangor and there is great potential and room for improvement in Selangor-China relations. The State is currently the most advancely developed contributing to 24.3 percent of Gross Domestic Product in 2020.

He was speaking in conjunction with the 11th Malaysia-China Entrepreneurship Conference (MCEC) 2021 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center which was also attended by Trade EXCO Dato 'Teng Chang Khim. Also present were Ambassador of the Republic of China to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing and Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) President Datuk Tan Yew Sing.

Among the plans to heighten Selangor's competitive edge in the region, the state governments plans to make the state the first smart state in the region since 2016 was proven to be helpful in mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic as the digital initiatives was used throughout the period in assisting businesses and the people.

MCEC 2021 was held in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021, which began on November 18 and ended today.
