OCK Lands Satellite Broadband Connectivity Job Worth RM115 Million

OCK Group through OCK Setia Engineering has been appointed as the main contractor for a broadband connectivity job involving satellites worth RM115million from Numix Engineering Sdn Bhd.

The project currently known as Universal Service Provider Turnkey Agreement will be a nationwide exercise where OCK will be required to manage and involve in the implementation of broadband access service through satellite connectivity projects at each of the locations stated in the contract.


Numix Engineering Sdn Bhd is an engineering company in Malaysia to provides full turkey satellite connectivity services such as very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) system for broadband data and voice communication.

OCK is well versed with the nature of the job, as its principally involved in the provision of telecommunication services equipped and also able to provide full turnkey services. The group offers comprehensive services from all six segments of the telecommunication network services market: network planning, design and optimization, network deployment, network operations and maintenance, energy management, infrastructure management, and other professional services. It also has a Network Facilities Provider (NFP) Licensee, where it is able to build, own and lease telecommunication towers and rooftop structures to the telecommunication operators in Malaysia.

Broadband access via satellite can be a costly affair, but there areas in the country that can only be reached via satellite. This could perhaps be part of the 839 satellite broadband sites the Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission opened up for tender early this year.
