Selangor RM2.34 Billion State Budget Comes With Higher Deficit

The recently tabled #Selangor2022 Budget deficit of more than RM200 million does not burden the State Government, said Dato 'Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

He added that this was due to Selangor having increased and strengthened its reserves and this could be used to adress the deficit matter.

“Last year the deficit was about RM100 million and this time RM200 million more was because our income target for next year will be less.

The MB aslo stated that the deficit is not so problematic because the State has increased and strengthened its reserves and it can be used during a crisis. However the issue is not about deficit but more about ensuring project development at this time of econimic recovery.

Selangor government had presented the state budget with an estimated expenditure of RM2.34 billion in an effort to increase benefits to the people, build back the business community and reenergise the state economy.

Amirudin said taking into account the expected state revenue of RM2.1 billion and the estimated expenditure of RM2.323 billion, the #Selangor2022 Budget would experience a deficit of RM222.7 million.

"This deficit is higher than this year for the provision of substantive development allocation to strengthen the economic drive after the Covid-19 pandemic, thus building a test-resistant state in various aspects," he said.
