Confined Energy From MCO Will Stimulate Job Growth: Randstad

According to the Randstad Malaysia 2022 Market Outlook, the confined energy from MCO is expected to stimulate employment growth in Malaysia.

In the statement, Randstad Malaysia head of operation Fahad Naeem says, “Employees in Malaysia had a lot of repressed energy after being confined to staying at home for more than six months in 2021.

“Many of them are eager to get out of the house and make lifestyle adjustments once restrictions are fully lifted and as activities return to normal.”

After a long time under slumber, it might motivate them to go out and hunt for new jobs especially in the light of the relaxation of pandemic restriction.

He also adds, “Malaysian workers might also have the motivation to hunt for new jobs, especially if they had planned to do so before the MCO and want to take advantage of the new job opportunities once businesses restore their full operations.”

He stated that some employees may be forced to change jobs as a result of their negative work experiences during the lockdown.

“This includes working with a bad manager or not having adequate support to work from home,” he added.

Even though Ranstand anticipates that more people will re-enter the job search market, Fahad cautioned that companies should not misinterpret this as a larger candidate pool to tap into.

“Hiring challenges exist in industries such as technology, manufacturing, banking, and financial services due to a mismatch between their company’s digital growth ambition and a shortage of qualified talent to achieve their business goals,” he said.

Meanwhile, due to tightening policies on hiring foreign workers, many employers are looking to hire skilled and digitally-adept talent locally to support their digital transformation projects, according to Fahad.

Talent in cybersecurity, blockchain, digital banking, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is, especially in high demand.

“Many companies also expect candidates in other functions such as human resources, sales, and marketing, as well as accounting and finance, to be comfortable working on digital platforms and processes.”

“Candidates are also held to higher standards in terms of their ability to think creatively and implement technology to improve operations and boost productivity,” he added.
