Samaiden Signs PPA With Sunway Nexis For 531kwp Rooftop Solar System

Renewable energy players are currently riding the high demand for alternative energy by companies that seek to reduce or offset their carbon use and emission, in line with global call on dialing back the use of harmful gas. Providers like Samaiden are seeing an uptake for solutions like Solar PV which is among the quickest ways to convert to a renewable energy source.

The company has recently added another customer to its long list portfolio with Sunway Nexis singing a power purchase agreement from the electricity generated from the rooftop solar photovoltaic installed in its vicinity.

Samaiden, will construct, install, test and commission a 531 kilowatt-peak (kWp) grid-connected rooftop solar PV power system at Sunway Nexis’ premises in Kota Damansara, Selangor. It will then operate and maintain the rooftop solar PV system and supply electricity to Sunway Nexis for a duration of 20 years.

Group Managing Director of Samaiden Group, Ir. Chow Pui Hee said, “Upon completion, the solar PV system will generate clean electricity of approximately 12.5 million kilowatt-hour (kWh) during the 20 years contract period, which will, in turn, neutralise approximately 8,400 tonnes of carbon emissions. Meanwhile, the PPA is expected to contribute positively to the Group for the duration of the contract.

As the adoption of RE, specifically solar, continues to grow among corporations across various industries, the group is in a unique position to support their sustainability goals in promoting the use of clean energy. The group is confident of inking more PPAs moving forward, at the same time playing a role in the country’s target of achieving 31% RE of total installed capacity by 2025.
