Petronas Gas Announces FID To Support Projected Southern Gas Demand Growth

PETRONAS Gas Bhd (PGB) has approved a Final Investment Decision (FID) for the construction of a new compressor station in Kluang, Johor at an approximate cost of RM460 Million.

PGB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Aziz Othman said, “The additional capacity resulting from this project is aimed to spur the growth of gas demand in Malaysia’s southern region from various industries and provide security of supply to the existing gas users in this region as a cleaner source of energy.”

This project will be undertaken by PGB’s Gas Transportation business as an expansion to the facilities in the Peninsular Gas Utilisation (PGU) network. Works will commence immediately and are estimated to be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2024.

PGB continues to make good progress in furthering its business growth especially with this project FID achieved. This announcement is made alongside a solid third-quarter performance on the back of stronger margins announced last month.
