ATA Ims Charged For Labour Violations

The component assembly plant ATA Ims which has Dyson as its biggest customer is now facing labour violation charges imposed by the Human Resources Ministry.

According to reports cited in Reuters, the supplier is being charged for four violations on accommodation for workers and also complaints of forced labour.

This comes as Dyson pulled out from all dealings with ATA Ims amidst allegations of worker abuse in the company, however, the company had been releasing press statements with regards to the allegations denying any wrongdoing or of any mistreatment.

The news agency quoted the Ministry official as saying the complaints were mainly for appalling work and living conditions and foreign workers forced to work overtime.

ATA claims that it strictly adheres to Malaysian labour law and has conducted accordingly in its management of employees, it also added that those who perform overtime do it solely on a voluntary basis.

But the charges by the Ministry will indicate otherwise proving the company of violating labour laws and committing some of the allegations labelled at the supplier.

The officer added that its still too early to many any conclusion on the allegations.
