UoSM Signs MoU With GKN Aerospace To Boost Collaboration In Aerospace Engineering

The University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM), a branch campus of the University of Southampton in the UK, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with aerospace supplier, GKN Aerospace, to boost the advancement of aerospace engineering through education and research.

The partnership will utilise GKN Aerospace’s technological expertise and resources, along with UoSM’s world-leading academic reputation to enhance experiential learning, academic exchanges, joint research, and development in the field of aerospace engineering.

The agreement was signed on November 19, by Prof. Rebecca Taylor, Pro Vice-Chancellor (ASEAN) and Chief Executive Officer of UoSM and Mr. Dave Davies, Site Director, Asia Operations of GKN Aerospace.

Under the MoU, both parties mutually agree to collaborate in academic and technical exchanges, education and research, joint seminars and conferences, and activities to promote aerospace engineering. Students at UoSM will also benefit from this MoU in terms of industrial visits to GKN Aerospace, internship opportunities, and potential graduate placements with GKN Aerospace. These opportunities provide a better insight to the aerospace industry and allow them to have a better understanding on the career pathways.
