Xiaomi Donates US$100,000 To Malaysians Impacted By Typhoon Rai

China based, Xiaomi Corporation announced that World Vision Philippines and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia will each receive a donation of one hundred thousand US dollars from Xiaomi Foundation Limited, to support those affected by Typhoon Rai in the Philippines and Malaysia.

In the Philippines alone, based on the country’s disaster council, more than 870,334 families or 23,380,167 individuals have been impacted by Typhoon Rai, and over 348,642 houses damaged. Hundreds and thousands of volunteers are working around the clock to help those affected and to provide survival essentials such as food and water, hygiene kits, kitchen and cooking sets, emergency shelter kits, and more.

For Malaysia, the mobile phone maker previously partnered and supported Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to provide essential food supplies to 600 families across West Malaysia, and will be lending a hand to support the underprivileged flood victims once again.

This comes as many global corporations seek out to assist nations in Southeast Asia that have been pummelled by the typhoon, recently Tim Cook CEO of Apple has iterated his interest in providing financial support to Malaysia and the Philippines. However, netizens shared their concerns on funds not reaching the intended victims if it was managed by government agencies.
