Selangor State Allocates RM40.88 Million For Post-Flood Efforts

The State Government approved an immediate allocation of RM40.88 million to implement clean-up and rehabilitation projects for infrastructures affected by the floods.

Dato ‘Menteri Besar said the allocation was approved through the State Executive Council involving projects managed by the Irrigation and Drainage Department and the Public Works Department. A total of RM9.18 million is allocated for 13 projects to DID for efforts to strengthen riverbanks, construction of river tires, construction of Tenaga Nasional Berhad platform levels, purchase of mobile starter sets, and the addition of Flood Warning Systems in key areas.

“A total of RM31.7 million is allocated to JKR Selangor for critical projects such as clearing slopes, road banks, and
repairing damaged roads in Jalan Sungai Lui, Sungai Lalang, and Jalan Bukit Peras,” he said. Urgently, projects managed by DID were considered emergency work and needed to be done immediately following the recent floods.

Additionally, the allocation will be used for repair and cleaning work which needs to be addressed immediately as the risky slopes and hillsides could become dangerous and would need to be closed. “I will discuss because part of the road involves the federal government, he added.

Selangor has been one of the worst affected states during the recent flooding, the Finance Ministry has also allocated special emergency assistance under the Disaster Relief Assistance initiative which has to date secured close to RM1 billion in financial support for the flood victims.
