MBSJ Invite Traders To Apply For Ramadan Bazaar Permit

Subang Jaya City Council has called on traders to apply for permits in this year’s Ramadan bazaar starting now until 31 January 2022.

Deputy Director, Corporate and Strategic Management Department said applications could be made through the website www.mbsj.gov.my or by scanning the barcode of posters uploaded on MBSJ’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

“Interested traders need to register as [email protected] users before proceeding with the application where all transactions are done completely online, namely registering, uploading supporting documents, and payment process,” said Azfarizal Abdul Rashid. He said a total of 1,251 stalls were provided this year at 18 Ramadan bazaar locations involving the Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kinrara, and Serdang or Seri Kembangan zones.

“MBSJ would like to remind all traders to apply in advance before the closing date to avoid inconvenience and will not be responsible for any delays,” he said.

This will be the first time since 2020 where physical Ramadhan Bazaar will be allowed, last year the State government organised an online bazaar where traders were given specific locations to set up stalls and had delivery service for foodstuff to be sent to consumers homes.

Although it managed to support selected vendors, the majority did not generate enough sales to sustain their cost of operations.

However, it will also be interesting to see how the council will manage the traders which usually get crowded and busy on SOP’s with Omicron looming. Recently, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin stopped all travel to Saudi Arabia due to returnees being infected with the virus after performing Umrah. Despite facing a backlash from the travel and tourism agents, the Minister continued with the order.
