ALTY Orthopaedic Hospital Acquires Malaysia’s First EOS Imaging System

ALTY Orthopaedic Hospital, a healthcare service provider specialising in surgical and non-surgical treatments and focused care for Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal conditions is proud to announce the acquisition of the first EOS imaging system in Malaysia. The EOS is an advanced 2D/3D imaging system dedicated to adult and pediatric patients with orthopaedic and osteoarticular pathologies, including those involving the hips, knees, and spine.

The EOS offers 50% to 85% less radiation than traditional X-ray systems and up to 95%3 less dose than basic computed tomography (CT) scans, in accordance with the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle for minimising a patient’s exposure to radiation.

Reducing radiation dose is particularly beneficial for children requiring frequent imaging, such as children with spinal deformities like scoliosis. The Micro Dose feature further reduces radiation exposure, offering frontal and lateral pediatric full spine images at a dose that’s equivalent to only a week’s worth of natural radiation4.

The EOS is a device that captures bi-planar images with two perpendicular X-rays beams that travel vertically while scanning the patient from head to toe. In less than 20 seconds, the EOS is able to produce simultaneous images of the patients from two different angles.

“We have invested close to RM4 million in acquiring and setting up the EOS imaging system. ALTY’s acquisition of the first EOS system in Malaysia represents our dedication to bring a true breakthrough in orthopaedic imaging to our patients,” said Dr Pavandeep Singh Dhillon, Chief Operating Officer, ALTY.

“The full-body, weight-bearing images and 3D models improve the level of understanding of the patient’s condition so we can provide enhanced orthopaedic care. We are optimistic this safe and innovative technology will benefit our patients and community,” said Assoc. Prof. (C) Dr G Ruslan Nazaruddin Simanjuntak, Chairman, ALTY.

ALTY, being a partnership between TE Asia Healthcare and 8 founding orthopaedic surgeons, recently welcomed the relocation of full-time practice of two more partner doctors, namely Dato’ Dr K.S. Sivananthan and Dr Lim Sze Wei, joining their colleagues , Dr Ruslan, Dato’ Dr Badrul Shah  and Dr Sureshan Sivanathan.
