Mondelez International, the maker of iconic brands including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Jacobs, Chipsmore, and Twisties today announced the appointment of Narmeen Khan as Managing Director for Malaysia and Singapore. Narmeen is responsible for the overall growth and operational excellence of the business in both markets.
Narmeen has a 17-year career with Mondelēz International, helming several senior category and leadership roles in Pakistan and Dubai. Prior to this appointment, she was the Managing Director for Mondelēz Pakistan, responsible for the turnaround of the Pakistan business and outstanding growth across the past 3 years. During her category roles, she was also pivotal in developing the chocolate category in Pakistan and ultimately leading Cadbury Dairy Milk to its market leader status in the country.
Narmeen, who succeeds the former country lead James Kane, will be based in Kuala Lumpur working alongside a passionate team of professionals who are committed to leading the future of snacking by providing the right snack, at the right time, made the right way for people and the planet. Her appointment also exemplifies the organisation’s culture of talent diversity and the ability to develop leaders from within.
“Mondelēz has established a strong foundation in both markets as a category leader, an employer of choice, as well as an important contributor to our global innovation and supply chain. I am delighted to have an opportunity to build on these fundamentals while bringing new perspectives to accelerate our growth and extend meaningful progress in line with our environmental, social and governance responsibilities,” said Narmeen.
Mondelēz commands a long-standing position as a market leader in the chocolate, biscuits, and candy categories. Malaysia is central to its overall operation, where it houses two production facilities located in Shah Alam, Selangor, and Prai, Penang. In Singapore, the company established a global technical centre in Jurong to fuel continued innovation through the development of new products and technologies.
Narmeen’s appointment comes in time with the company’s move in advancing its sustainability efforts. Mondelēz is a founding member of the Malaysian Recycling Alliance (MAREA), a dynamic industry collaboration to improve collection, separation, and recycling of post-consumer plastic packaging. Mondelēz plans to make further strategic investments and deepen collaboration with the government, industry, and society as part of its commitment to drive improved outcomes as a sustainable snacking company.
