With Cases Hitting 22K, Putrajaya Mulls WFH For Civil Servants

Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has been increasing in the past weeks with numbers now reaching an all time high of 22,000, the figures has somewhat become a cause of concern despite the Ministy of Health reporting low incidents of serious systoms among the patients.

While the Prime Minister has reiterated that there will be no lockdowns or border closure, the Government is mulling in introducing other methods in safeguarding the people from the current wave. Among them is the Work Fromm Home policy, Chief Secretary to government tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the department is looking into the matter if the need is there to implement WFH for civil servants.

The largest employer in the county has 1.4 million inn its payroll and will be a mammoth task to coordinate WFH policy without impacting the government operations, especially during these times of economic recovery phase. Howeve, the Chief Secrentary added that the matter will have to be brought to Cabinet before any decisions can be made.

For now the best approach is for everyone to adhere to SOP and follow the instructions given by the authorities he said.

Ministry of Health has warned that cases could hit the 30k mark before any stabilisation can be seen, the rise in cases has also stalled plans to reopen borders for international travelers.
