Gamuda And Partner Win RM1.45 Billion Deal To Build Singapore Defu Station and Tunnels

Gamuda Berhad with its Singapore outfit together with its JV partner Wai Fong Construction Pte Ltd has been awarded by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore to design and construct the Defu station and tunnels.

The overall project which includes a station and 2 tunnels is said to be worth RM1.45 billion or approximately SGD467 million. Defu Station is part of the 29km Cross Island Line Phase 1 (CRL1), comprising 12 stations whereas CRL is Singapore’s eighth mass rapid transit (MRT) line. The station will be constructed along Tampines Road.

With Gamuda holding 60% in the JV partnership, the group will take the lead role while Wai Fong Construction an ACRA-registered entity that has been operating for more than 28 years in Singapore will be handling the civil engineering work among others.

The company’s past work includes – Design and Construction of North-South Corridor (Viaduct) between
Sungei Seletar and Yishun Ave 5; Design & Construction of two stations on the Jurong Region Line; and Design and Construction of North-South Corridor (Tunnel) between Victoria Street & Kampong Java Road.

The project is expected to be completed by 2030.
