Pestech has been appointed as the vendor for the design, supply, delivery, construction, testing, and commissioning of a new 132KV gas-insulated substation and associated works for Kulim Hi-Tech Park with a contract value of RM68.465 million.
This project is handed to the group by Nur Power which has been the exclusive provider of electricity to the entire KHTP by owning and operating a 220MW gas-fired power plant. NES is a subsidiary of NPSB that specialises in the distribution of electrical power within KHTP.

The northern region is seeing an influx of foreign multinationals setting up large-scale manufacturing plants in Kedah and Penang which are part of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER). This recent entry of global investments, driven by the global semiconductor boom, spurs demand for high-quality power infrastructure as well as renewable energy supplies. Global tech giants like Intel, Infineon, Micron and the latest AT&S have reportedly expanded their production footprint in Malaysia, choosing Kedah or Penang as their preferred locations. It is well-known that these MNCs are under great pressure to increase electricity procurement from renewable energy (RE) sources.
Going forward, Pestech will step up our efforts in the RE market by collaborating with strategic partners. Especially in sun-drenched Perlis and Kedah, opportunities abound to develop large scale renewable energy projects.
