Hospital Sungai Buloh Receives 18 Units Of Medical Equipment From Zurich

Zurich Malaysia today contributed 18 units of medical equipment to Hospital Sungai Buloh as part of its Zurich Community Week  2021.

The equipment handover was witnessed by Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin during his official visit to the hospital.

Earmarked for use in the Department of Anesthesiology & Intensive Care,  Department of General Medicine, Department of Paediatrics, and Department of  Ophthalmology, the equipment comprise:

1. Six patient monitors

2. Five infusion pumps

3. Three mid-range ventilators

4. Two video laryngoscopes with portable monitors

5. One refrigerator pass-through door

6. One Humphrey visual field analyser 3

Worth a combined RM1,025,980, the funds utilised to procure the equipment came from Zurich Malaysia’s Eat Right to Play Right (ERTPR) initiative, and the surplus pool of the company’s general takaful business, Zurich General Takaful Malaysia  Berhad (ZGTMB). A RM32,157.39 tranche sourced from ZGTMB is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute its Tabarru’ Fund excess to philanthropic or life-saving causes on behalf of their customers.

The ERTPR initiative is a Zurich Malaysia corporate responsibility programme that improves the nutritional knowledge and status of Malaysian children by using football as a platform to educate children on the importance of proper nutrition as well as instil self-discipline and sportsmanship. The initiative gives back to communities by investing in and protecting the next generation, equipping them with knowledge in a  fun and engaging manner. With COVID-19 safety measurements in effect, on-ground  ERTPR activities in the last two years were cancelled, and the funds made available by Z Zurich Foundation for ERTPR are repurposed for this contribution.

These equipments will help to enhance and supplement Hospital Sungai Buloh’s existing capacity as it strives to provide excellent medical care to patients.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the corporates who have come alongside the government to help increase the nation’s capacity to provide world-class medical care to the public. In this instance, we are grateful for Zurich Malaysia’s generous contribution to help sustain our public healthcare capability and reinforce the efforts of frontliners to serve Malaysians. As we strive to provide the best care for COVID-19  patients, it is equally important that we continue to make a concerted effort to render critical medical care in other areas. Such a contribution provides timely support to the government’s efforts to provide the best possible medical care for all with advanced equipment and facilities,” said Khairy.

Zurich Malaysia Country Head Junior Cho said, “The wellbeing of Malaysians is our priority. We want to journey alongside Malaysians through every stage in life. Being cognisant of the heightened demand on healthcare in recent times, Zurich Malaysia has been actively supporting the efforts of healthcare workers in Malaysia through

various contributions. We decided to make a second contribution to a public healthcare provider which has been unwavering in its efforts to provide world-class patient care. We believe this contribution can help the dedicated healthcare workers  care for the patients better and ultimately, create a brighter future together for all.”
