AwanBiru Technology Berhad or Awantec returns to black when the group recorded a higher profit before tax of RM6.1 million in Q2 FY2022 as compared to a loss of RM1.4 million in the previous quarter while its revenue for the same reporting period increased from RM11.8 million in Q1 FY2022 to RM53.2 million in Q2 FY2022.
The improved Group performance for the quarter is mainly due to growth in its Software & Services business since Awantec was appointed as Google’s exclusive Managed Service Provider to the Government of Malaysia to support government agencies with Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace. Services under the appointment range from Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) to Software as a Service (SaaS) and Anything as a Service (XaaS).
The group won two significant wins from the Ministry of Education and Pernec Integrated Network Systems Sdn.Bhd. The Pernec contract relates to the provision of Google Workspace Solution, integration, configuration, provisioning, and support services for unified communication and collaborative platform.
Awantec’s newly appointed CEO, Rezal Rahman took office on 1st February 2022 and has installed changes in the company with his three-pronged strategy. The management at the group is cautiously optimistic of the year ahead as revenue from new business including but not limited to its partnership with Google and existing opportunities in the talent segment have demonstrated good growth for the first half of FY2022 to date.
