GoGet Partnered with EPF, Casts Wider Social Security Net for Gig Workers

In line with the global standard for protecting gig economy workers, gig workers are provided with employee benefits and protection similar to full-time employees including social security protection, savings, insurance, and upskilling.

The on-demand workforce platform, GoGet has partnered with Malaysia’s Employees Provident Fund (EPF), to launch a savings feature on the GoGet app as an effort to support a sustainable future of work and to cast the social security net wider and protect gig workers.

The support from EPF signals the increasing openness of ASEAN governments in supporting the future of work. By using a tech-enabled solution, gig workers are able to upskill, find work, and have a trusted platform for financial protection.

There are currently 31,000 gig workers on the platform. With 38 percent of full-time Malaysian employees had already considered venturing into the gig economy, which was higher than the global average of 20 percent.

The new in-app feature is integrated to simplify savings for the gig worker, where a portion of the gig worker’s net income goes into EPF as their contribution and it is fully customisable by the gig worker. This allows GoGetters to contribute to their retirement savings all through the GoGet app seamlessly. The app also gives access to social security, private savings, insurance and career building.
