Johor To Receive RM4.11 Billion For Telecommunication Infrastructure Enhancement

The government has allocated RM4.11 billion to enhance the telecommunication infrastructure and digital network throughout Johor, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

This involved Phase One of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) programme costing RM589 million which is being implemented and Phase Two which will start early next year.

With the state election just around the corner, Johor is bound to hear more investment and development news from all segments of parties. In the latest announcement, the Minister added the state has great potential in the creative industry and also in the aspect of participation by micro, small and medium entrepreneurs in the digital programme.

 “It will also enable Johor to move forward by fully tapping the digital economy so that the telecommunication infrastructure in Johor can be upgraded,” he said.

The state will soon see 222 new transmitting towers upgraded while 109 transmitters had already been built and 113 are currently under construction.

There are plans to give 413,000 houses or premises access to fibre optic service, with 246,901 having already been completed and 166,593 in the building process.

Additionally, Johor will get among the most Point of Presence (PoP) at 623 PoP, involving an estimated expenditure of RM934 million, preparing the state to move ahead and be on par with Selangor in terms of network readiness.

This will definitely bode will for both the consumer and commercial community as the state progresses into the 5G era in the near future.
