In response to the Government’s announcement today that the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model will be retained for the rollout of 5G in the country, YTL Communications re-affirms its commitment to support the Government to bring 5G to the nation.

“YTL Communications fully supports the Government’s decision to retain the SWN-model and allow Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to participate as shareholders in Digital Nasional Berhad,” Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong, Managing Director of YTL Communications said.

“With a clear decision made in favour of a Single Wholesale Network, it is now incumbent on all the MNOs to support and accelerate the Government’s vision to bring 5G to the entire country by 2024 at the lowest cost to the rakyat. The successful implementation of the 5G network will provide a strong digital backbone for Malaysia and accelerate economic growth as well as the digitisation of the economy,” he added.

“As the First-To-5G in Malaysia, YTL Communications is seeing tremendous excitement and uptake of our 5G services. With average speeds of 600Mbps experienced by users on our service, we are proud to be able to bring world-class services to our customers,” Dato’ Yeoh concluded.

As the 5G network expands, YTL Communications will continue to play its role in bringing 5G connectivity to every Malaysian.
