Datuk Mohd Nasir Joins INCEIF Faculty As A Professor Of Practice

INCEIF University announced the appointment of Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad as a Professor of Practice with immediate effect.

Datuk Nasir is currently Chairman of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, and CIMB Bank PLC Cambodia. He is also Chairman of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board and a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation.

As Professor of Practice, Datuk Nasir would be sharing his invaluable knowledge and experience with INCEIF students and fellow faculty members through numerous channels. He will be a co-instructor on the subjects of entrepreneurship and leadership, as well as providing expertise and consultation to INCEIF University’s Action-Based Learning and research programmes.  

Datuk Nasir is a Council Member of ACCA UK since 2013. He is a Fellow of ACCA and a Chartered Accountant with MIA. He obtained his MBA (Finance) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

In the past, he was the President of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Chairman of Media Prima Berhad and Independent Non-Executive Director for several companies.

He brings with him vast experience in the areas of leadership, management, finance and accounting which spans over 42 years, having started his career as a Trainee Accountant with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in 1979 and moving on to hold various positions in the Finance Division.

In January 1993, Datuk Nasir was seconded to TNB’s subsidiary company, Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing Sdn Bhd as the Financial Controller before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in June 1994. In January 2000, he joined Sharikat Permodalan Kebangsaan Berhad as its CEO. In June 2001, he was appointed CEO of Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), a position he held until his retirement in June 2011.

Datuk Nasir is the second Professor of Practice at INCEIF. In 2020, INCEIF welcomed one of the most versatile corporate leaders in Malaysia, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar who is Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Berhad and a Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies in UK, as a Professor of Practice. Tan Sri Wahid is a co-instructor in Managing People and Organisation; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and Sustainability Management and Investment courses.

INCEIF faculty members, who are globally respected among the Islamic finance academia and industry, have a combined wealth of experience and diversity with areas of expertise in – among others – Shariah, sustainability and fintech. The faculty, coupled with continuous support from the industry, provides INCEIF students with strong mentoring relationships and opportunities for professional development.
