JobStreet aiming to fill ‘Jobs on Facebook’ absence

With Facebook no longer making available its ‘Jobs on Facebook’ feature worldwide (with the exception of the United States and Canada), Malaysia’s leading employment platform JobStreet is aiming to fill this absence for organisations by providing ‘superior experiences’ for job hirers to find ideal candidates for vacancies available.

To get started, all interested hirers need to do is to WhatsApp JobStreet or click here to get a simplified process going.

Facebook had announced that, from 22 February this year, the tab will no longer appear under the category ‘Jobs’ and will be replaced by a group called ‘General’.

With the Malaysian economy now on the road to recovery, JobStreet also assured that it would stand by Malaysia through ‘thick and thin’ and play its part in rebuilding the economy – just as it had throughout the pandemic.

The company is today the country’s leading employment platform with the most jobs and opportunities: Some 30,000 employers offering more than 50,000 jobs are currently registered with JobStreet.

JobStreet also said that it would continue to introduce various initiatives to ensure that more Malaysians are gainfully employed.

“Unlike social media sites which had been unfortunately used by unscrupulous people to post scams, JobStreet is a trustworthy brand with a proven track record to enable Malaysians seek gainful employment,” said the press release.

Earlier this month, JobStreet had successfully hosted the Southeast Asia region’s and Malaysia’s largest ever Virtual Career Fair (VCF) to date. It was an apt platform that resulted in ‘win-win’ situations all round: Jobseekers seeking employment, and organisations looking at beefing up their staff strength. Thousands of jobs were on offer, serving as a ‘one-stop hub’ for hiring companies and jobseekers.

The event offered candidates access to live webinars for Malaysians to better ‘future proof’ their careers, while also incorporating live ‘on the spot’ interviews.

Concurrently, various in-demand roles due to the fast-evolving world of work coupled with other roles which have been ‘reimagined’ due to digitalisation and technology were also featured.

Innovative – yet practical – features had been incorporated for the virtual event. They included mobile-first user friendly interface, webinar series on career coaching as well as a ‘career tools integration which is essentially an interview practice tool.

As part of its nation-building initiative, JobStreet had also introduced the ‘Jom Apply Kerja’ initiative last year in an effort to attract blue-collar jobseekers to return to work, while also supporting employers, especially in the F&B and retail sectors, with their hiring needs.

This was a collaboration with HRD Corp in an effort to enable exclusive training incentives with the aim of encouraging companies to hire new talents. This programme is delivered through HRD Corp Placement Centre (HPC), a one-stop virtual portal that provides employment and income-generating opportunities for all Malaysians. It was geared at creating new job opportunities by helping companies manage total hiring and onboarding costs.

Under this initiative, employers can claim up to RM3,600 (RM600 x 6 months) for on-the-job training allowances, which would help reduce the total cost of hiring new talent especially from unemployed graduates and school leavers. This incentive is available exclusively for hires made via the JobStreet platform. Furthermore, there is no limit to the number of new hires for which employers can submit their claims.
