Hong Leong AM Wins 16 Awards At Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards 2022

Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd (“Hong Leong AM”) wins sixteen awards in total at the Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards 2022, including fifteen individual fund awards and notably, clinching the Best Equity Group Award – Malaysia Provident, for the fifth time. The group award marks Hong Leong AM’s third consecutive win since 2020.

Hoo See Kheng, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong AM said, “We are delighted to win the Best Equity Group Award – Malaysia Provident once again and at the same time, receive fifteen individual fund awards for five of our EPF-approved funds by the highly-respected Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards. The awards re-affirm our investment philosophy and strategies and are a testament to our investment team which has delivered consistently strong risk-adjusted returns for investors.

Hong Leong AM’s success comes from our time-tested bottom-up stock-picking strategy where we seek to gain a sufficient level of understanding of a company, including the main drivers of its profitability and business outlook, before initiating a stock position in the fund. This strategy has allowed us to continuously drive long-term and sustainable fund outperformance, particularly in the local market.”

Despite another challenging year in 2021 due to multiple lockdowns amid escalating COVID-19 cases, supply chain issues and the rise in inflation, Hong Leong AM remains focused on companies with sustainable competitive superiority, quality management and enduring business models that will benefit from certain long-term secular trends.

“As we move into 2022, Hong Leong AM will continue to apply appropriate investment strategies; and maintain focus on the long-term prospects and company fundamentals in order to deliver superior long-term growth,” added Hoo.

“The 2022 Refinitiv Lipper Fund Awards recognise award-winning managers who are successfully facing down market factors not seen in decades including rising inflation, a thinning labour pool and continuing constraints on the global supply chain.

Markets are ebbing and flowing along with the sentiments and emotions of investors as the pandemic continues to cloud outlooks and change perspectives. Fund managers find themselves looking beyond earnings statements and factoring in impacts of viral waves – making active management more challenging than ever.

“We applaud the 2022 Refinitiv Lipper Fund Award winners such as Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd for delivering outperformance and the accompanying comfort of consistency to investors’ portfolios in a time of unprecedented change,” Robert Jenkins, Head of Research, Lipper, Refinitiv.
