McDonald’s Malaysia Pays Business Zakat Of RM600,000 To The Selangor Zakat Board

McDonald’s Malaysia today paid business zakat amounting to RM600,000 to the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS). This payment for 2022 is the highest amount that has been paid to LZS since McDonald’s Malaysia started paying business zakat six years ago, since the company was taken over by Lionhorn Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Reza Group of Saudi Arabia.

Apart from zakat payments, McDonald’s Malaysia also handed over zakat distribution wakalah contributions worth RM500 in the form of cash and vouchers to 50 selected families affected by the floods at the end of last year.

This business zakat payment ceremony was attended by YBhg. Dato ‘Seri Utama Diraja Mufti Selangor, Sahibus Samahah Dato’ Dr. Haji Anhar Bin Haji Opir, who witnessed the zakat contribution of McDonald’s Malaysia business by Mr. Azhar Darbi, Vice President of Human Resources and Chairman of the Internal Halal Committee, McDonald’s Malaysia, to Mr. Muhd ​​Fikri Naim bin Harun, Head of Collection Division, Selangor Zakat Board.

As of 2021, McDonald’s Malaysia has paid business zakat of RM9.85 million to states throughout Malaysia. McDonald’s Malaysia is also one of the highest business zakat payers for the state of Selangor.

“LZS is very much looking forward to continuous contributions from corporate companies out there such as McDonald’s Malaysia in order to support the survival of asnaf in Selangor. Moreover, the number of poor and needy asnaf families is expected to increase as a result of the current economic situation.
