High Court Dismisses MAHB Request To Strike Out AirAsia’s RM479 Million Claims Suit

Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad had sought to strike out a claims suit filed by AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia X for RM479.7 million against the airport operator has been dismissed by the High Court.

The low-cost carrier had alleged losses and damages in the sum of RM479,781,285.00 in its claims but was rejected by Malaysian Airport, the case was subsequently brought up to the courts by AirAsia.

MA Sepang then proceeded to strike the case out but on 25 March 2022, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed the application to strike out the Civil Suit. This would now mean, the Civil Suit will proceed to trial.

The airport operator had stated in a bursa filing that it will defend against AirAsia’s claim in the trial.
