Axiata Group Trading Suspended Pending Major Announcement

Axiata and Digi shares have been suspended on the stock market from 9:00 am pending a major announcement, both telcos have informed the Exchange upon the request.

Speculation is rife with the submission to the Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission on the parties’ proposed merger of Celcom and Digi into one single entity. Celcom owned by Axiata and Digi by Telenor, have been in talks for over 2 years before the final agreement was made after clearance was received from the regulators.

The process now leaves just with formality and once approved, the merged entity will become the largest telecommunication entity in Malaysia with over 25 million mobile users.
