UTAR And GDEX Forges Closer Ties Through MoU

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GDEX Berhad (GDEX) to establish joint research collaboration and develop education advancement programmes.

The inking of the MoU will provide many collaboration opportunities for both parties, including the exchange of ideas and expertise through a variety of activities such as industrial attachment, job opportunities, mutual visits, joint training courses, and webinars. UTAR and GDEX will also work together on research and development in developing solutions to cater for more complex logistics demands from customers.

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and GDEX Managing Director-cum-Group Chief Executive Officer Teong Teck Lean. Witnessing the signing ceremony were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Ts Prof Dr Faidz Abdul Rahman and GDEX Board Chairman Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim. The signing ceremony took place at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 31 March 2022 in the presence of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen.

Ir Prof Ewe, President of UTAR said, “UTAR always believes in industry collaborations as the way forward for our students, staff and the University. We are glad to be partnering with GDEX to establish University-Industry collaborations that not only enhance the quality of teaching and learning but also produce talents that meet the evolving requirements of the industry.”

GDEX Berhad Managing Director-cum-Group Chief Executive Officer Teong said, “This collaboration will contribute to the growth and upskilling of talents, in line with GDEX’s vision to be a technology-driven logistics company in the region. We look forward to unlocking synergies through this collaboration opportunity to develop homegrown talents together with UTAR.”
