MAFI And Sabah To Further Modernize Sabah’s Agricultural Sector

Courtesy call by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee to YAB Chief Minister of Sabah Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor at the Sabah State Administrative Center (PPNS) in Kota Kinabalu.

The courtesy call was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry II, YB Datuk Dr. Nik Muhammad Zawawi Haji Salleh, Chairman of LPNM, YB Dato ‘Dr. Shahruddin Bin Jamal, TKSU (Development) MAFI, YBhg Datuk Badrul Hisham bin Mohd, Director-General MARDI, YBhg Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Zabawi bin Abdul Ghani, KP LPNM, En Mohd Khairuzamri M. Salleh and Chief Commercial Banking Officer of Agrobank, En Azman Md Isa.

YB Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Haji Safar Bin Untong, Sabah State Secretary was also present during this courtesy call.

Discussions, among others, have led to various forms of cooperation to further modernize Sabah’s agricultural sector and approaches that can continue to contribute to increasing the state’s agricultural output and further strengthen the country’s food security as a whole.

The meeting also discussed the cooperation that will be signed through memoranda that will be signed today. This also shows the commitment of the Federal Government and the Sabah State Government to make the agro-food sector a driver of economic growth and improve the well-being of the people. This includes efforts to develop the pineapple industry in Sabah through strategic cooperation between MAFI, MAFS, and LPNM in line with the common desire to improve the agricultural sector and to assist farmers in Sabah.

Strategic cooperation between the Federal Government, State Government, and the private sector in the agro-food sector can be a catalyst for achievement and in line with the National Agro-Food Policy 2021-2030 (DAN 2.0) and the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 2021-2025.

Close cooperation between MAFI and MAF Sabah is important in implementing well-planned initiatives to ensure the sustainable and competitive development of the agriculture sector and food industry.

The Federal and State Governments share common aspirations and are committed to continue working together to modernize the agro-food sector, increase productivity to reduce dependence on imports, and manage the agro-food sector more efficiently in order to ensure national food security.
