AirAsia Ramps Up India Destination To 30 Weekly Flights

With borders reopening, AirAsia Malaysia has ramped up flights to key destinations in India, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Tiruchirappalli from Malaysia. 

To celebrate the resumption of 30 additional weekly flights to India launching this month and next month, AirAsia is offering guests and travel agents a 20% discount to all Indian destinations from Malaysia through the airasia Super App from now until 1 May 2022, along with complimentary 20kg check-in baggage allowance for each booking.

The Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,  Ms. C. Sushma said: “We welcome the recent re-opening of international borders by the Government of Malaysia from 1 April 2022. The Government of India has also re-opened both its international borders to tourists in October 2021 and its commercial air space from 27 March 2022. AirAsia has been offering low-cost flights to India since 2008.

Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia said: “With borders being reopened across the region, AirAsia will continue to review and add onto our expanding network to cater to the increasing demand for air travel, including 30 total weekly flights from Malaysia to India launching by the end of May. Furthermore, with a total of 71 weekly flights to be operated by the end of 2022, AirAsia Malaysia will be soon returning to pre-Covid capacity, flying more than 140 weekly services to and from India.

AirAsia has been the biggest beneficiary from the reopening as the low-cost carrier has struggled in the past 2 years with almost all 200 planes grounded but with operation costs continuing to burden the group.
