Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia Announces Appointment of New Director to the Board

Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia (ARBM) announced the appointment of Hossam Essam Al Basrawi as the new Non-Independent Executive Director of Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia. 

This latest addition of a seasoned executive to the Board provides deep experience in the financial industry combined with extensive leadership across the Islamic banking sector. The new appointment brings ARBM’s Board of Directors to five members and form part of the Bank’s ongoing strategic effort to provide additional leadership expertise to support the organisation’s growth aspirations.  

Hossam is presently the General Manager Corporate Banking of Al Rajhi Bank, Riyadh, and joined the  Bank in 2020 as the General Manager in Corporate Banking and a member of the Executive  Management. Hossam is an experienced banker with more than 25 years of expertise in areas such as strategic planning, financial analysis, sales management, credit, organisational transformation, and management of special attention credits.

Throughout his tenure at Al Rajhi Bank as General Manager for the Corporate Banking business, his responsibilities and roles covered all client segments, institutional, large and medium, while covering sectors of contracting, real estate development, trading, manufacturing, investment, power, oil and gas, services, hospitality, and healthcare. He has also overseen divisions such as structured and project finance, international, corporate, and enterprise banking, regional coverage teams, and global transactions unit for cash management and payments.

Prior to joining Al Rajhi Bank, Hossam started his career in Saudi Hollandi Bank, Western Region, as the Regional Remedial Unit Head in 1996 and then as Relationship Manager in 2001, where he began his career in the Corporate Banking Group. In 2002, he joined Saudi Investment Bank, Western Region as the Relationship Officer. In the same year, he joined Samba Financial Group, Western Region, and later was attached to Banque Saudi Fransi, Riyadh, where he spent 16 years in various desks within its  Corporate Banking Group.  

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Law from Cairo University, Egypt, Hossam obtained numerous professional training certifications in leading strategy execution in financial services from the Harvard  Business School, the banker leadership programme from INSEAD Business School, and among others.
