4G Coverage Hits 95.5% Average Speeds 40.14 Mbps: MCMC

Malaysia 4G coverage is closing in on full nationwide reach as it now stands at 95.52%, according to Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission.

This is a significant improvement from last year with many pockets of rural Malaysia still suffering from low to zero signal, the agency also added that the average speed had also risen to now 40.13 Mbps.

Telcos were instructed by MCMC to sunset 3G by the end 31 December however this was later rescinded when the government realised the target was not being able to meet on the 4G transition. Operators have been rushing to upgrade sites from 3G to 4G but face multiple obstacles including the recent flooding in parts in Peninsular.
