Annuar: TM And YTL Signed 5G Agreement With DNB, Rest Still Negotiating

Communication and Multimedia Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa who stated recently that only 2 telcos have signed the Service Agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad on the newly proposed equity stake proposition has added that while Telekom Malaysia and YTL have proceeded to agree to the terms the other telcos are still negotiating.

He clarified this when a news portal reported that Annuar had instead said only TM and YTL agreed to own the equity stake alluding that others have refused to take up the deal.

However, the Minister claims negotiations between the telecommunication companies namely, Maxis, Digi, Celcom and U Mobile, and Digital Nasional Bhd on a service agreement for the implementation of the country’s 5G network are still underway. Previously the hesitation for the companies to agree on terms was on price and ownership, Annuar stated now the negotiating could be still ongoing with regards to price or value of equity offered.

“They are given until June 30 to finalise their participation,” he said in a statement, which is the deadline given to telcos jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Communication Ministry. Failing this, Annuar was quoted saying YTL and TM will be rolling out 5G by themselves with the others left out.
