MITEC Appoints Mala Dorasamy As Its New CEO

The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) announced the appointment of Mala Dorasamy as its new CEO of the Company.

No stranger to MITEC, Mala has been serving as its Director of Marketing and Sales since 2017 and took on the Acting CEO role in 2021. As the new CEO, Mala is responsible to transform MITEC into the Business and Lifestyle events industry’s forefront player.

Commenting on the appointment, MITEC Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat said, “We are pleased to have Mala as our Chief Executive Officer at a time when the industry faces tremendous challenges as we move to the endemic phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“Mala is a remarkable choice, bringing a wealth of experience from the international Business and Lifestyle events industry. This appointment marks an exciting chapter for MITEC and the Board looks forward to working with Mala as she steers MITEC into greater pinnacles.”

Mala who reins from South Africa is an accomplished executive with international experience. As the previous Director of Marketing, Sales & Events at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), she played a significant role in building the Durban ICC’s global reputation, brand, and profitability. 

She has a proven track record with over 31 years of experience in the Business Events industry specialising in the opening of new Centres, project managing major United Nations/APEC/ BRICS level events, strategy development, and operational management, international marketing, business development, sales growth, safety and risk management, ISO/Halal implementation and management.
