Yayasan Hasanah, a foundation under Khazanah Nasional Bhd today announced the first eight recipients of its Hasanah Special Grant 2022 (HSG2022) with RM4.5 million in grants allocated towards projects that tackle some of the most critical challenges faced by Malaysians.
Of the eight recipients, three are focused on access to education, four on community development and one on the environment. They are:
- Global Education Leaders Malaysia Berhad (PEMIMPIN GSL) whose project is to build the capacity of 30 school leaders in 15 Orang Asli schools benefitting hundreds of students.
- USAINS Holding Sdn Bhd who will be providing online tuition coaching for 200 students in 10 schools to ensure that they are able to perform better in the Sijil Penilaian Menengah (SPM) examinations.
- Bring the Opportunity Programme (BTOP) PLT with a project aimed at sharing knowledge and raising awareness of mental health through frontliners from Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya (PRS) club or Peer-Mentors who’ll be providing support services to the guidance and counseling unit as well as students in school.
- DIA Academy Sdn Bhd whose project aims to empower the targeted disabled beneficiaries with full time employment and micro business ownership to attain financial self-sufficiency.
- Pepper Labs Sdn Bhd (Masala Wheels) with a project aimed at upskilling 40 micro entrepreneurs from B40 communities in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur and improving income for 30 more entrepreneurs through a sustainable end-to-end supply chain ecosystem.
- Peduli Insan and USAINS Infotech Sdn Bhd who will be providing livelihood and income generation for B40 communities in Kedah through technology transfer from social innovators in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
- Pertubuhan Pelindung Alam Malaysia whose project will train, equip and deploy 118 existing and 10 new local Orang Asli as wildlife rangers to patrol the Perias-Balah forest plot, preventing tiger poaching, and initiate long-term monitoring of other wildlife using animal sign and camera-trapping surveys.
Yayasan Hasanah managing director and trustee Dato’ Shahira Ahmed Bazari said that HSG2022 continues to build on Hasanah’s core foundation of long-term nation-building and commitment to stakeholders in upholding the values of empowerment, trust, integrity, inclusivity, connectedness and authenticity.

We encourage all qualifying Malaysian organisations to apply and also attend the many workshops on offer where we provide guidance on how to apply for the five impact areas of Education; Community Development; Environment; Arts and Public Spaces and Knowledge.”
HSG2022 is a collaborative initiative by Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance aimed at catalyzing social impact at scale for a more inclusive and progressive Malaysia.
