MATRADE Promotes Local Construction and Building Materials Through Megabuild Jakarta 2022

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will be organising the participation of 15 Malaysian companies in Megabuild Indonesia 2022, as part of the continuous efforts to promote Malaysian capabilities in the construction and building materials industry,

The exhibition will be held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from 16 – 19 June 2022. This initiative is timely as there is a rising demand for construction services and building materials in Indonesia driven by residential projects and investment in infrastructure, in cities across Indonesia.

“The main objectives of the participation are to promote Malaysian products and services, to explore business opportunities as well as to collaborate with potential strategic Indonesian partners in the construction related projects,” said Idzham Abdul Hamid, Director of Construction & Business Services Section, MATRADE.

“Among the products and services that will be promoted at Megabuild 2022 include architecture, engineering, project management & construction services, aviation lightings, glass coating and water tanks. In addition, green and sustainable products such as solar power and EV charger solutions will also be showcased at the Malaysian Pavilion,” he added.

As one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, Indonesia offers significant opportunities for businesses in a wide range of sectors.

To recap, early this year, Indonesia’s Parliament passed the Capital City Bill into law so that the construction of the country’s new capital can be built. The plan relocation to East Kalimantan province would start as early as 2024.

Nusantara, the new capital, will be built on a 632,850-acre land, almost four times the size of Jakarta, and as such, this ambitious project will attract investors from a variety of industries globally. Nusantara will need both soft and physical infrastructure, including urban utilities, toll roads, manufacturing, seaports and airports, and network and communications, among other things.

Hence, East Kalimantan is predicted to see a 47.7% growth in real investment. Malaysian interested parties should enhance their presence in the country and other Malaysian companies are encouraged to explore business opportunities in Nusantara through MATRADE network.

Some of the potential projects readily available include the Rebana Project in West Java that can serve as a catalyst for Malaysian companies to have a bigger presence in Indonesia, especially in the new capital city in Kalimantan Timur.

MATRADE will also coordinate the participation of Malaysian companies in other international trade fairs including Acetech Mumbai (10-13 November 2022) and The Big 5 Dubai (5-8 December 2022) to further assist Malaysian exporters in securing new markets.

Malaysian exporters are urged to MATRADE Jakarta at [email protected] if they are interested in the Indonesian market, to receive market updates, business contacts, and information on business opportunities.
