48,800 Trainees Undergoing TVET Study: Mahdzir

According to KPLB Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, there are a total of 48,800 trainees are taking courses at Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions under the Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) as of March 31.

“The number is expected to increase in line with the marketability level of trainees now at 86.5%,” he stressed.

“We have training at certificate, diploma, degree, master’s and doctorate levels, so this could be the pathway for all with the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM),”

“Today, we began the national TVET promotion week, and after this, we will also visit other states to promote the courses we have to offer to our youth who needed support after Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM),” he was quoted as saying to the press.

Earlier, he officiated the TVET Educatiokn Institutions Expo @KPLB 2022 at Sungai Petani, which was also attened by KPLB Deputy Minister II Datuk Hasbi Habibollah..

Mahdzir said among the areas which received high demand among industry players for TVET trainees under the ministry included multimedia and digital fields.

Apart from that. trainees undergoing automotive and engineering courses are also high in demand.

He explained that KPLB would ensure the marketability of its trainees by improving the quality of courses offered and the skills matching the needs of the industrial sector.

“What we are doing now is that each course has the cooperation of industry players for matching needs. Otherwise, we may conduct courses which do not meet the requirements of the industry,” he concluded.
