Malaysia Registers Inflation Of 2.8% In May As Food Price Increase

National inflation in May 2022 increased 2.8 per cent to 126.6 as against 123.1 in the same month of the preceding year, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said.

.No More Vehicle SST Exemptions After June 30; Tengku Zafrul

The sales and service tax (SST) exemption for new vehicle orders will not be extended beyond June 30, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz has announced.

However, Tengku Zafrul said buyers who have already ordered their vehicles by June 30 will be allowed until March 31 next year to register their vehicles with the road transport department (JPJ). To read the full story click here.

Malaysia’s Job Market Shows Healthy Signs Of Recovery: Jobstreet

Four broad industries – semiconductor and wafer fabrication, electrical and electronics (E&E), computer and IT (software), and transportation and logistics – have recovered to pre-pandemic levels or even higher, said JobStreet an established job search application platform here in Malaysia.

Snowfit Made Its Debut on LEAP Market with 33% Premium

The provider of massage and wellness equipment as well as musical instruments and accessories, was listed on the LEAP Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities and officially commenced trading under the stock short name of SNOWFIT and stock code of 3054 at the opening of trading at 9.00 a.m. this morning. 

The stock opened at 16 sen per share, a premium of four sen over its 12 sen reference price. It was last traded at 20 sen per share at the time of writing, which represents a 66% premium over its reference price. To read the full story click here.

EPF Q1 Investment Income Slips 22% To RM15.85 Billion, Lower Dividend Payout Looms Ahead

EPF has announced its Q1 2022 investment income of RM15.85 billion which is significantly lower compared to its 2021 performance which recorded RM19.29 billion, the pension fund attributed the dip due to volatile global markets.

The 22% lower gross investment income will indicate how EPF manages the dividend payout for members for the year with most analysts expecting it to be much lower than 2021 as well. Despite a challenging period and being ravaged by the pandemic the pension fund distributed 6.1% in dividends last year, the payout was one of the highest it had paid out. DFM: Government Looking At Inflation Tackling Mechanism In Budget 2023

The government is taking the country’s inflation rate seriously and working to find the best solution, including formulating a new strategy through Budget 2023, said Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah.

He said the inflation rate in Malaysia was not at a high level compared to neighbouring countries and was controlled due to the large subsidy expenditure by the government. To read the full story click here.

Singapore Sought For Poultry And Eggs From Indonesia After Malaysia Ban

Indonesia said it will begin exporting rice to China, Brunei Darussalam, and Saudi Arabia on the back of high domestic rice production, according to Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Additionally, the Minister also added so far, 22 countries have restricted their exports. Recently, the Singaporean authority asked for our eggs and poultry after Malaysia restricted (their exports).
