AirAsia X Announces The Resignation Of Tan Sri Rafidah From The Board

.AirAsia X has announced the resignation of Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz as its independent director with effect from July 1 as she has served the maximum term allowed.

In a filing to Bursa, AirAsia X said “(Tan Sri) would soon have served the term allowed, as an independent Director. (Tan Sri) would then need to comply to the change of Status, from independent BOARD Member to Non-Independent Director, and the other ensuing requirements.”

Tan Sri Rafidah, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board on 3 March 2011 and re-designated as a Senior Independent Non-Executive Chairman upon listing of the Company on 10 July 2013. She is also the Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee as well as the Risk Management Committee of the Board, and the Safety Review Board of the Company.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Malaya, she was Malaysia’s longest-serving Minister of International Trade and Industry, having served in that capacity from 1987 to 2008, and contributes a wealth of international experience.
