The Securities Commission Malaysia has announced four new senior appointments as it seeks to replace vacant top management positions in the body.
SC has appointed Datin Azalina Adham as Executive Director of the newly created business group Strategy and Policy. Leveraging her vast experience in the financial and capital markets, Azalina will help drive the SC’s strategic direction in a number of critical areas including corporate planning, risk management, and international relations to further develop the capital market.
The regulatory body has also appointed media and communications specialist Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid as Executive Director, Strategic Communications and Chairman’s Office with a primary role of sharpening the SC’s engagement and communication strategy with key stakeholders. Additionally, it promoted Dr Wong Huei Ching to Executive Director, Digital Strategy & Innovation. Her appointment serves to further the potential of digital and innovation toward shaping a capital market that is more inclusive and sustainable for businesses and investors. Dr Wong joined the SC in 2017 and has led several key functions such as corporate planning and strategy. She was instrumental in the development of the Capital Market Masterplan 3.
Separately, the Commission appointed a new Director of Enforcement, Encik Budiman Lutfi Mohamed. This is in line with a long history of appointments to the SC from the Attorney General’s Chambers. Budiman will lead the SC’s investigation,
prosecution and civil enforcement work.
As previously announced, Puan Yew Yee Tee and Puan Shamsul Bahriah Shamsudin will assume their new roles as General Counsel and Director, Intermediary, and Fund Supervision respectively.
Yew will provide leadership on policy, legal and strategic advisory support of all internal and external legal matters involving the SC. Meanwhile, Shamsul Bahriah will be in charge of the authorisation and licensing, and supervision of market
intermediaries.
