Marriott International, Inc. has announced the appointment of Volker Burth as its General Manager for W Kuala Lumpur replacing Christian Metzner who has moved to W Singapore.
Volker who is no stranger to the hospitality industry with 17 years under his belt is a well-rounded, passionate hotelier with five-star and luxury background in hotel operations management. Known as a hands-on and strategic leader with a drive for excellence through enthusiasm and a positive can-do attitude, he will lead the W team in KL.
Volker began his hospitality career with InterContinental Hotels Group completing assignments in Germany and United Kingdom. He then joined the Sheraton Hotel, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as Director of Food & Beverage in 2012 and subsequently moved to the flagship properties at Sheraton on the Park, Sydney, Australia, and W Bangkok, Thailand.
