CP Indonesia And Japfa Comfeed Among Indonesian Firms To Supply Chicken For Singapore

Singapore Food Agency has given approval to three companies to supply chicken meat and chicken products to the country this comes after the City-State was affected by supplies due to Malaysia’s export ban on poultry in June.

Among the companies that hass been identified to supply stocks are Thailand based Charoen Pokhand which has presence in Indonesia and domestic food giant Japfa Comfeed. The deals are currently being finalised between the nations with both enterrpsies in Indonesia and counterparts in Singapore sorting out negotiations in terms on logistics and other due dillegence.

The deal will be Singapore Governments reaction to secure its food stockpile for the long term and will be seen as a direct response from Malaysia’s action. There has been calls domestically to reduce dependency from Malaysian poultry farmers after the moce, this latest policy change is bound to further impact Malaysia’s distressed poultry industry.

Recall, Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM) advisor Jeffry Ng said they are in talks with the government about ending the export ban, which took effect on Jun 1.

According to him a lot of farmers are chasing the association as they have ongoing contracts with Singapore customers, whom they have cultivated a relationship with for many years. (read the full story on the link above)
