The Malaysian Department of Agriculture organized the Agricultural Engineering Symposium 2022 with the theme “Agricultural Engineering Technology Revolution towards 4IR” to share agricultural engineering technology expertise and form strategic cooperation networks with relevant industry players.
YB Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry said in line with the main thrust of the National Agro-Food Policy, 2021-2030 (DAN 2.0), the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technology through modernization and smart agriculture is very important to increase agricultural productivity to ensure national food security. . “The use of modern technology, among others such as drones, sensors, robotics, internet of things (IoT) and Precision Farming Technology, is an important element in agricultural engineering to increase the productivity of the country’s food system,” he added.
According to Dr. Ronald, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) welcomes the participation of technology companies to also contribute expertise in efforts to transform the country’s agro-food industry. “Research and technology development studies in the agro -food sector are also being actively carried out, not only by government research agencies, but also involving private sector initiatives including industry players and technology suppliers,” he added.
According to the Director General of Agriculture, YBhg. Dato ‘Zahimi bin Hassan, Department of Agriculture has established strategic cooperation with the private sector through Participatory Observation (PO) or observation of selected technologies in the field to verify the effectiveness of technology offered by technology providers before being disseminated to the target group.
