5G For 1000 Schools

Minister of Communications and Multimedia has stated that 1000 schools both urban and rural are expected to be provided with 5G coverage by end of the year.

Tan Sri Musa said this will be subject to approval from the Education Ministry for the implementation to take place quickly.

The Minister confirms that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and Digital Nasional Berhad have given their commitment to making the 5G network implementation in schools a success. At the same time, the Ministry has identified 5 to 6 schools as pilot venues to test the capacity of the 5G network.

Once these 5G facilities are set up they will benefit not only school children but also the management and consumers living in the vicinity who can enjoy the coverage, the Minister added.

5G rollout in the country has stagnated since the government change and differing opinions on its implementation procedure, after a series of negotiations with various cabinet members and telecommunication operators. Now with the terms and conditions sorted out, the Single Wholesale Network provider DNB can now move forward and lay the foundation for a 5G future.
