PenjanaKerjaya Scandal: Minister Does Not Deny Party Members Involved

Human Resources Minister, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, did not deny that there were individuals from his party MIC who were involved in using false claims to misappropriate of the Employment Recruitment Incentives Programme (PenjanaKerjaya) funds.

Recently, there were reports that payment for programme was suspended after SOCSO discovered false claims amounting to RM423 million, CEO, Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said the suspension was made based on the data analysis and continuous monitoring by the agency’s AntiFraud, Ethics and Integrity (AFEI) unit.

Saravanan, who is also the MIC deputy president, said that however, the involvement of individuals in the false claims had nothing to do with the MIC.

“Thus far I do not have any information but I cannot deny the involvement of individuals, but that it has nothing to do with the MIC,” he said.

The Minister responded when asked to comment on allegations from several parties about some members of the political party being detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), for being involved in false claims and misappropriation related to PenjanaKerjaya.

It was also reported that the anti-corruption agency had remanded 40 individuals to assist in the investigation into the issue of false claims and misappropriation of PenjanaKerjaya funds in several states, through ‘Ops Hire’ operations
