Asian Stocks Mildly Positive, Cautious Over Economic Outlook

Kuala Lumpur, July 22 – Bursa Malaysia climbed higher on Friday’s closing with the bell-weathered index FBM KLCI up 15.48 points or +1.07% at 1,465.80. Meanwhile, the Asian equities markets closed mildly positive. Better-than-expected earnings from Tesla and gains in tech stocks lifted the market sentiment. The DXY has displayed recovery as investors have shifted their focus on Fed’s monetary policy announcement next week. The sheer upside move in the DXY had driven down optimism, hence the mild positive sentiment reflected in the Asian stocks closings. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.40% as Japan’s core consumer inflation remained above the central bank’s 2% target for a third straight month in June, as the economy faced pressure from high global raw material prices. Australia’s All Ordinaries down 0.06% as Treasurer of Australia said that Australia will double the fees for foreign investors looking to buy assets in the country. Also on investors’ radar are rising US jobless claims and a dimmed regional factory outlook.
