TASCO First In ASEAN To Receive Cold Chain Logistics Certification By Nippon Kaiji Kyokai

  • TASCO Berhad-owned Tasco Yusen Gold Cold which is, a 70%-owned subsidiary received the JSA-S1004:2020 certification issued by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, also known as ClassNK making it the first company in ASEAN to receive this certification.
  • With the aim to improve the quality of cold chain logistics services in the ASEAN Member States, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan in collaboration with the responsible parties in charge of transport in ASEAN Member States drafted the “ASEAN-Japan Guidelines on Cold Chain Logistics” in 2018. Subsequently, it was endorsed at the 16th ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2018. The objectives of these Guidelines are to improve the quality level of the local logistics services through the use of these Guidelines.

The JSA-S1004:2020 Cold chain logistics services – Requirements for low-temperature storage services and low-temperature transport services which have been developed by the Japanese Standard Association under the leadership of MLIT. The certification body, ClassNK is a non-profit non-governmental organisation that focuses on the development of relevant rules, procedures, and guidance, and maintains and develops its commitment to scientific and technological research and development with its Head Office located in Tokyo and in Chiba, Japan.
