Jail, RM50 000 Fine For Environmental Pollution Added In RS-1

Fines ranging from RM10,000 to RM50,000 and imprisonment for no more than a year will be enforced against individuals who commit environmental crimes.

According to the environmental EXCO, the legislature is examining the draft enactment in detail and is considering bringing it back to the federal level.

“If the solid waste management and public cleaning bill are passed, offenders can be punished with a rehabilitation work order by the court.

“At the same time, the local authorities always review the by-laws to ensure that the legislation is always relevant from time to time,” said Hee Loy Sian during the closing session of the debate on the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) at the Selangor State Assembly session, last Monday.

He who represents Local Government EXCO, Ng Sze Han also touched on the waste to energy (WTE) project in Jeram, Kuala Selangor and Tanjung Dua Belas, Kuala Langat which will generate income.

He said the development by the state subsidiary Worldwide Holdings Berhad had a minimal impact on the environment, with the method being widely used by other countries.

The RS-1 presented by Dato’ Menteri Besar on July 27 takes into account the implementation aspects of comprehensive policies, projects and initiatives between the State Government and the federal government.

According to Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the state’s efforts do not set aside the five-year plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) which is still ongoing and has an impact on Selangor.

He explained that the RS-1 was also designed to deal with the major challenges facing the world at the moment, including the Russia-Ukraine War as well as the Cold War between China and the United States.
